Wake Up

The Hindus called the cow a mother and tied her to a pole,
In her torment, each of us every day plays a role.
“Thou shalt not kill” preached Christ, yet eating beef is fine,
The killer can be baptized again so long as the killed is not your kind or mine.
Allah is described as “The Gracious, the Merciful”,
But we are not Allah, so first let us eat till our full.
“He who harms animals has not understood or renounced deeds of sin...” Mahavir had taught,
But if we can get away with anything on earth, maybe we need not fear getting caught.
Buddha said, “Life is dear to all beings, they have the right to live the same that we do.”
But other animal or human, choose who.
Every day the priests preach and the Fathers baptize in Church,
Yet the base of humanity every day a little more does lurch.
Why have these books when you read none? Why preach what you don’t want to hear?
Pull them down, burn them down and throw them down to tear
The first thing we note in all, the first thing we seek,
“Kindness” the virtue most sought, from humanity it seems to away leek.
The rule of fear is here today, the rule to buy and sell,
The rule to torture others to fill our bodies which remain nothing but an empty shell.
When did we grow from animals to monsters? When did we become so cruel?
Where did our kindness vanish? Why did to our greed our conscience lose its duel?
What have we come to and what shall we become?
When we stand on a pile of bodies, blood, gore and tears of so many and then some!
Wake up today and see yourselves for what you are,
Can you hear the lies being spread near and far?
You are human, you have a choice! Embrace your love for all,
Wake up today as the world slowly dooms, there is little time to stall…
Stop the dairy, stop the slaughter, stop torturing for your taste,
There is enough and more for all on the earth but not enough life to waste.
Stop hearing what you want, and hear everything there,

For the earth can only survive with love, nourishment and care.
